When Educators Meet: A Conversation Coming to the Bee Hive

There are moments in a creative life that feel less like interviews and more like encounters.

Tomorrow, (January 20,2026), I’ll be sitting down via Zoom with renowned bassist, producer, and educator Derek “DOA” Allen for an upcoming episode of Habaka’s Bee Hive, powered by Teerex Radio Teerex. While Derek’s musical legacy speaks for itself, what excites me most about this conversation is not a résumé; it’s purpose.

At a certain point, artists are called to become stewards.

As someone who spent ten years teaching voice in a music school in Italy, I know firsthand that education changes how you listen, how you lead, and how you serve the music. Teaching isn’t about technique alone, it’s about shaping confidence, honoring truth, and preparing artists for a world that doesn’t always protect them.

That is why this upcoming conversation centers on DOA Academy of the Arts.

This isn’t about looking back. It’s about building forward, creating spaces where knowledge is passed with integrity, where artists are equipped for real life, and where legacy becomes responsibility.

These are the kinds of conversations I want to hold in the Hive. Conversations rooted in experience, guided by wisdom, and offered with intention.

The interview will be recorded soon, edited with care, and shared when it’s ready. Until then, I’m holding space for what I know will be a meaningful exchange between two educators who believe deeply in the future of music.

Stay close, stay Real sweet, and God Bless you.  🐝💛 Hugs
