The Black Box Sessions is an intimate, soulful live experience where poetry and music come together to create connection, reflection, and community.

In celebration of National Poetry Month and with the spirit of International Jazz Day in the air, Poetry in Blues features powerful spoken word accompanied by rich, live soul and jazz instrumentation from Habaka & Soulful Stew, under the musical direction of Michael Evans. This session invites you into a listening space — where words breathe, rhythms respond, and stories find room to land.

Designed as a cultural gathering, not just a show, The Black Box Sessions centers shared experience. You’ll feel close to the artists. You’ll feel held by the music. You’ll leave with something stirred inside you.
