The very first time I met this little Honey Bee, she ran up to me after one of my performances and gave me the biggest hug.
Looking up at me with the sweetest smile, she said,
“I love you, and I love your music.”
She was only six years old…and already a lover of the Blues.
Anyone who knows Habaka knows that I’m almost always wearing some kind of leopard flair. Apparently, this little Honey Bee understood the assignment without me ever saying a single word.
One day she came running up to me and said,
“Habaka, come and see my doll! I changed her clothes and designed her a new outfit!”
She grabbed my hand and led me into the room.
There, lying on the couch in a little baby car seat, was her baby doll…
I stood there completely surprised.
I laughed.
I was touched.
And I was deeply honored.
It wasn’t just about the fabric.
It was the fact that this precious little girl had connected my music, my personality, and my style in such a genuine way that she wanted her doll to look like “Habaka.”
I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Thankfully, I took a photograph of that moment.
It’s a memory I’ll treasure forever.
Honey Bees, this little one reminded me that inspiration has no age limit. She loved my music, she loved the Honeycomb, and apparently she believed every doll deserved a little leopard flair. 😂
The sweetest part is this…
I never sat her down and taught her a brand.
She simply absorbed the joy, the kindness, the music, and the creativity that surrounded her.
Children tell you exactly how they feel. Their love is honest. Their excitement is genuine. They don’t overthink it—they simply express what’s in their hearts.
I’ve often said that if you can touch one life, then it’s all worth it.
We never truly know how we’ll impact someone else’s journey— from childhood into adulthood.
And just when I thought the story couldn’t get any sweeter…
Her mother told me that she had been asking if she could have leopard outfits to wear to school! 🤣🐆
I couldn’t stop laughing.
Here I was, simply being myself, and this precious little Honey Bee had decided that leopard was the way to go!
It’s amazing how children see the world. They don’t overanalyze— they simply celebrate what brings them joy.
Looking back now, I realize it was never really about leopard print.
It was about a little girl finding someone who inspired her to express herself with confidence and creativity.
And if I’m being honest…
I still hope she’s out there somewhere wearing a little leopard every now and then. 😂🐆🍯
So today, I simply want to encourage you…
Live in your purpose.
Show up as the person you were created to be.
You never know who’s watching.
You never know whose heart you’re planting a seed in.
I don’t know where that little Honey Bee is today.
But I do know that our small encounter was real, special, and unforgettable.
🐆 She was a mini fashion designer who put leopard on her dolls.
🍯 A child who became part of my Honeycomb in the most natural way.
And somewhere out there…
I’ve actually been wearing leopard since I was a little girl.
Long before the stage, long before the music, and long before
it became part of my signature style, I simply loved leopard print.
So maybe it was never just a fashion choice.
Maybe it’s always been part of who I am.
Which makes it even more special that one little Honey Bee
saw it, loved it, and decided her baby doll needed
a little leopard too. 😂🐝
