Today is my fathers Birthday! He played the Blues the majority of his lifetime, he worked hard and believed in perfecting his craft.
He played at the White House many times, and for our Troops as well. He received a Gold Record with B.B. King and Bobby Blue Bland and received recognition from the Governor in Memphis, TN for being one of the original Beale Street musicians, and he received the 2014 JUS’ Blues “Bobby Blue Bland” Award Honoree “Ambassador to the Blues” and much more. I said all that to say, he never spoke about those things and so I never knew until he was gone, but I’m proud to be able to say he was my father and it really seems impossible that 3 years has already passed since his passing.
I think of him on a daily basis and I miss having those late night phone conversations with him. He left his mark in music to be heard for a lifetime.
